kindness has a powerful purpose.

Goodness in the face of badness gets people's attention. It makes people stop and notice that your response wasn't measured in wrong, even though it would have been justified.

I was a little wide-eyed when I first read Proverbs 25:21-22, where it says when we give good to our enemies, it's like we're pouring coals of fire on their heads. And how about the part where we're told God will reward us for that?!! 😳

But the more I sat in this word, the more God made His heart clear. Good in the face of bad startles people. It seems off because people are expecting an equally bad reaction when they're doing something wrong to us.

God uses kindness to melt away self-defense so people can see straight through to His heart. Kindness has a powerful purpose. It's a tangible way people actually see God. When kindness melts away self-defense, we experience the genuine goodness of God through another person's actions.

And how amazing to get to be a part of that? Hope today will bring an opportunity to pour good, friend.
