remember.

I remember your laugh
When we were out
How the whole room
Would fill with that sound

I remember the words
That we should
Pack up our things
Because we were moving again

I remember the sun
On my face
As the convertible
Snaked along highway one

I remember the loss
As I heard you two argue
Your emotions everywhere
Anger, division, hatred, rage

I remember being behind you
On the trail overlooking the city
Breathing hard
My strides half your length

I remember the angst
Being the new kid
One more time
And putting on that smile

I remember the fullness
Of being your daughter
Of being seen by you
And seeing you too
