Jesus knew.

Jesus knew that after Peter failed 3 times, he would come back.

And in an act of love, Jesus prayed for Peter’s faith not to fail, even though Jesus knew exactly what Peter was about to do.

And then He told Peter, “and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

But Peter had no idea what Jesus was even talking about because he truly believed he would NEVER leave Jesus.

But Jesus knew.

Jesus didn’t see Peter’s failings as a failure of faith, in the way we might think about it.

Jesus knew Peter’s failings would give him —
•practical humility
•practical awareness and
•practical compassion

Jesus knew Peter’s sight would be permanently changed when he intimately experienced failure for himself.

Jesus knew.

When we look at our own lives and see the mess up’s, brokenness, dirty hands, sin issues, and our own failings, remember Jesus has prayed for our faith not to fail. And out of our own failings, Jesus wants us to walk forward in humility, offering grace to everyone, because we’re intimately aware of the grace He’s given to us.

It may be sticky, but Jesus sees the whole picture and He is weaving together a masterpiece in each of our lives.

Today, rather than being overly proud of our thoughts of perfection or overcome by our history, Jesus just wants us to offer grace and compassion and kindness to everyone we meet.

“And when you have returned to Me, strengthen the brethren.” Luke 22:32
