When you hold them first within your arms,
Time stops and all you can hear is breath in and out.
How could it be that she is mine and I am hers?
Life begins and the days number themselves.
Are we just making it up as we go along?
When will she discover that I’ve never walked down this road before?
Soon enough she’ll realize that we are merely beside her as we see the path unfold.
And life is rich.
Richer still, the longer He allows us to be here.
The gift she is causes my heart to stretch and ache.
